Job description

Overview
An Information Technology System Administrator is required to support efforts related to multiple contractor and government furnished information systems in addition to tactical networks.
The scope of effort encompasses all system administrator duties, from initial startup and component design, continuing through development, hardware/software integration, security compliance, delivery and in service support.
The candidate will be required to interface with NAVSEA, Government vendors, EB departments, and sub-contractor counterparts.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • Administration and support of multiple Windows Server / desktop closed networks.
  • Assist in support of Cisco network devices.
  • Assist in support of encryption devices.
  • Assist in support of HP printers and scanners.

Travel up to 10% may be necessary to support job responsibilities.
Qualifications
Required:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science and/or Information Security Technology -OR- 5+ years of IT System Admin experience
  • SECNAV M-5239.2 certification for Information Technology System Administrator or equivalent (e.g. CompTIA Security +)
  • 3+ years of experience in systems administration
  • Requires active DoD SECRET or above clearance at time of application, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI eligibility. This must be listed on your resume.

Preferred:
  • Familiarity / experience with Red-Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Knowledge of application security using the Risk Management Framework
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies and containers (VMWare Kubernetes and HyperVisor)
  • Some knowledge with scripting (primarily Powershell)
  • Some familiarity with Cisco (switches/routers), Networked Printers (HP, Canon)

Skills
  • Troubleshooting skills for systems and network issues to identify root cause and recommended remediation activities
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organization skills, and ability to time manage multiple projects
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Windows server (2016 and newer) and desktop (Win10 and newer) networked systems.
