Overall Purpose
Reporting to the Director, People Analytics and HR Automation, this position provides strategic leadership for the company's HR systems, with primary focus on the long-term vision, optimization, governance, and effective use of Workday. This role partners closely with HR leadership to translate business strategies into scalable technology solutions that improve processes, create efficiencies, strengthen data integrity, and enhance the employee and manager experience.
This position leads a team of senior HR systems analysts while also serving as a hands-on Workday subject matter expert. The role is responsible for team leadership, prioritization, coaching, system strategy, configuration support, issue resolution, release readiness, and continuous improvement of the Workday platform.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and drive the strategic vision and roadmap for Workday and related HR systems, ensuring alignment with HR priorities, business needs, compliance requirements, and the employee experience.
  • Partner with HR leadership to translate business strategies into Workday solutions, process improvements, automation opportunities, and technology requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of senior HR systems analysts, including prioritizing work, managing performance, and supporting career development.
  • Serve as a hands-on Workday subject matter expert, supporting configuration, testing, troubleshooting, business process design, security, reporting, and system optimization.
  • Lead system support for annual and recurring HR processes, including Talent, Performance, Advanced Compensation, Recruiting, Benefits, Payroll, and Learning, as needed.
  • Oversee Workday releases, enhancements, upgrades, implementations, and new functionality assessments in partnership with internal teams.
  • Monitor system performance, data integrity, and transaction accuracy through audits, analysis, issue resolution, and process improvement recommendations.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex Workday issues, partnering with HR, IT, Payroll, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and vendors to implement sustainable solutions.
  • Establish and maintain HR systems governance, including intake, prioritization, documentation, testing standards, release planning, change management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Develop and maintain user procedures, guidelines, training materials, and system documentation to support effective Workday adoption.
  • Support HR compliance, immigration, reporting, audit, risk management, and data confidentiality requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education and/or experience typically obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree.
  • Typically, a minimum of 10 or more years of HR systems, HR technology, Workday, HR operations, or related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of people leadership experience, including coaching, performance management, prioritization, and development of team members.
  • Demonstrated expert-level Workday HR functional system experience, including hands-on configuration.
  • Experience leading or supporting Workday strategy, roadmap development, governance, releases, enhancements, implementations, or optimization efforts.
  • Strong understanding of Workday functionality, business processes, security, reporting, integrations, testing, and configuration best practices.
  • Ability to lead senior-level analysts while remaining actively involved in hands-on Workday configuration, troubleshooting, solution design, and system support.
  • Strong ability to translate HR business needs into scalable technology solutions.
  • Highly collaborative with strong written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, competing priorities, and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • High integrity and ethics in handling confidential information.
  • Background and drug screen.

Physical Requirements
Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ in USD per year is: $129,000 - $161,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
