Job description

About Re:Build

At Re:Build, our mission is to ensure the next generation of important products are made, at scale, in America. We are laying the foundation for a better future for our customers, employees, and communities by revitalizing America's manufacturing base and creating meaningful jobs across the country, including in historically deindustrialized regions.
We operate an advanced, end-to-end manufacturing platform that partners with industrial companies and innovators to take products from first concept to full-scale production in critical verticals including aerospace and defense, electrification, medical, energy and environment, and robotics and automation.
The way we operate is as important as the work we do. It's guided by The Re:Build Way, 16 principles that shape how we collaborate with each other, partner with our customers and vendors, and contribute to the communities where we operate. (link to The Re:Build Way principles)

Who We Are Looking For

You are a seasoned payroll professional who thrives on precision, governance, and building order in complex, multi-state environments. You have deep expertise in keeping pay accurate and compliant for a large, growing workforce in many locations. You guide enterprise wide HR departments and coordinate with collaborators in Finance, Benefits, IT, and HR leadership through knowledge and influence instead of formal authority.

This role offers a rare mix of operational ownership and transformation: you will help launch RBM's new enterprise payroll and HRIS platform. After the launch, you will assume complete functional responsibility for it.   If you want to shape the future of payroll for an organization of 1,200+ employees and govern the system you helped build, this is a meaningful opportunity.

What You Get To Do
  • Own RBM's corporate payroll policies, standards, and regulatory guidelines, ensuring accuracy across all sites, pay groups, and employee types.
  • Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert and escalation point for complex pay, tax, and compliance issues.
  • Maintain SOX-related controls and documentation, oversee year-end processes and W-2 accuracy, and assess federal, state, and local regulatory changes.
  • Provide enterprise-level oversight of site payroll processing, analyze recurring trends, and recommend systemic improvements.
  • Function as the lead for payroll operations within the enterprise payroll/HRIS implementation-defining requirements, pay group structures, and compliance needs, and driving testing, validation, cutover, and functional sign-off alongside the ADP implementation specialist.
  • Assume full functional ownership of the payroll system after launch, governing configuration changes and ensuring integrations across timekeeping, HRIS, benefits, and ERP stay consistent.
  • Oversee multi-state tax setups, withholding, garnishments, child support, tax levies, and bankruptcy order compliance.
  • Partner with Finance, Benefits, and senior HR management, and train site HR teams with clear mentorship, job aids, and blocking issue paths.
What You Bring To The Team

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive multi-state payroll experience in a complex organization, including payroll for 1,000+ employees across multiple locations.
  • Experience as the functional payroll lead during a major payroll/HRIS implementation, plus developing payroll policies, controls, and compliance frameworks.
  • Extensive knowledge of multi-state payroll and regulatory compliance, including wage-and-hour rules, garnishments, tax requirements, and year-end processing.
  • Strong functional HRIS/payroll skills (governance and validation), knowledge of payroll integrations, and familiarity with SOX.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and experience with payroll reporting and audit processes.
  • Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to influence without supervisory authority while maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred

  • Experience with ADP enterprise HRIS/payroll systems.

The base salary range for this position is $99,000 - $140,000 per year. This range represents the Company's good faith estimate of the base compensation for this role at the time of posting.  Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for annual incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives, subject to Company plans. The Company offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and other benefits.

The BIG payoff

We are a company who is going to make a difference in the industries and the communities in which we choose to operate. Every employee of Re:Build will share ownership in the company and will share in the financial rewards of the success we achieve together, at all levels of the company!

We want to work with people that reflect the communities in which we operate.
