Idaho Power - located in vibrant Boise, Idaho - is looking for a System Administrator or Senior to join our Power Supply team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. Our work plays a critical role in communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon, and we're working hard to provide our customers with the safe, reliable, and affordable energy they depend on. What does System Administrator or Senior do for us?

System Administrators analyze, install, configure, upgrade, test, document, monitor and maintain software and hardware in support of business processing requirements. Supported systems may include operating systems, business applications, server hardware, security tools, monitoring tools, web servers, application servers, integration servers, and other departmental or enterprise applications or systems. They work closely with other teams to develop technical solutions. They also provide technical support for problems not resolved by the Integrated Operations Center or IT Service Desk.

In addition, Senior System Administrators participate in the development and execution of technology strategies to support organizational activities and direction. They provide advanced level support for systems; including troubleshooting, performance, monitoring, cost-benefit, security, and licensing analysis. They stay aware of industry trends, business requirements, and technical design methodologies to aid in the development of creative/innovative IT/OT solutions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

System Administrator

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

OR

  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a related field

Experience:

  • 2 or more years of relevant technology administration experience

Preferred:

  • 4 or more years of relevant technology administration experience

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position

Preferred:

  • Certification relevant to position
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate, Microsoft MCSA, Redhat RHCSA

System Administrator

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or equivalent field

OR

  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, cyber security, or a related field

Experience:

  • 5 or more years of professional technology administration experience

Preferred:

  • 8 or more years of experience in a corporate multi-platform technology environment

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
  • CCNA

Preferred:

  • Certification relevant to position
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate, Microsoft MCSE, Redhat RHCE, Microsoft Azure Administrator, CISSP, CCNP


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 40 lbs. and work performed on ladders. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
