Job description

Description

The IT Systems Manager is responsible for direct management of the IT Systems Administrators and Engineers. Ensuring the necessary processes and procedures are used by team members to maintain compliance with federal and commercial requirements. The IT Systems Manager ensures tasks are completed timely, oversees the health and hygiene of the system, and ensures the team meets established service level agreements. The System Manager will work with Information Systems leadership to continually improve processes and procedures to provide continual improvement and efficiency.


Manage and lead a team of IT professionals to ensure the health and hygiene of the Systems.

Train, coach, and mentor the team providing guidance, supervision, and professional development opportunities.

Collaborate with Security team and other IT staff as necessary to implement, update and test ongoing security improvements including regular and timely system patches, security patches and other application updates as necessary to all system infrastructure.

Assist the team with prioritization and completing daily tasks and meeting established service level agreements.

Analyze performance of staff to identify problem areas and deliver solutions to enhance quality and efficiency.

Plan, coordinate, and manage projects for improving existing technology or to implement new technology within the enterprise environment.

Work with the Technical Lead to identify, recommend, develop, and implement end user training programs to ensure staff are familiar and proficient with existing and new technologies, products, policies and procedures.

Oversee, monitor, and ensure system security including regular configuration backups, recovery, verification of security rights, port security, access list verification and other steps necessary to ensure integrity.

Ensure daily system monitoring is maintained including verifying the integrity, performance, and availability of infrastructure systems including servers, reviews of device and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.

Attend training seminars, and conferences to broaden knowledge of current and future technologies as needed.

Plan and conduct performance appraisals of direct reports and perform disciplinary action when necessary.

Keep current with the new software and hardware technologies being deployed at the company.

Work with team members to ensure they are implementing and maintaining established security policies and procedures.

Maintain awareness of all IT team priorities.

Assume role and responsibilities of other IT leadership when they are not available, including making critical decisions and representation in meetings.

Other tasks as assigned by Information Systems management.

Educational Requirements

B.S. in Information Systems or related field.

3+ years equivalent work experience in IT management.
  A combination of education and work experience will be considered.


Computer Skills

MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)

Microsoft Windows Operating Systems

Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory

Basic network knowledge; LAN, WAN, Wireless & VPN
