Job description

Department: Information Science Technology Salary: Commensurate with experience

Description: The Information Science Technology Department at the University of Houston Sugar Land is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time, non-tenure track, Lecturer position. This position is open to applicants with expertise in the Computer Information Systems field, with a focus on supporting both undergraduate and graduate-level courses. As a full-time Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, engaging with students, and contributing to the success of the Computer Information Systems program. You may also collaborate with the Masterโ€™s Program in Cybersecurity, depending on semester needs.

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the Computer Information Systems program.
  • Work collaboratively with the Master's Program in Cybersecurity as needed.
  • Develop and implement effective course materials and assessments.
  • Provide academic support and mentorship to students.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and activities.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in Computer Information Systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Lecturer appointments are made on a semester basis.

Interested candidates should indicate the courses they are interested in teaching.

Qualified and interested candidates are encouraged to apply.

  • Ideal candidates will have either a minimum of a Master's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field for teaching at the Undergraduate level, or a PhD in either Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Data Science for teaching at the graduate level.

Employees are expected to have a home address in the state of Texas for the duration of their appointments.

Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidates.
