Senior QA Automation Engineer (Founding SDET) | C#, Azure, APIs, SQL; healthcare a +

KORE1 Technologies

Lake Orion, MI • On-site

$90K - $110K/yr

Full-time

Posted 19 days ago

Job description

Location: Orion Township (Auburn Hills area), MI | Hybrid. Increased on-site presence is expected during onboarding and hardware setup, transitioning to approximately 1-2 days per week on-site. Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance.
Work Authorization: U.S. work authorization is required. This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship or transfer, now or in the future.
KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for a Senior QA Automation Engineer (Founding SDET) | C#, Azure, APIs, SQL; healthcare a +
Are you the kind of QA professional who takes ownership of product quality instead of simply executing test cases? Do you enjoy building structure, improving processes, and helping engineering teams ship reliable software with confidence?
We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to help establish and lead quality assurance practices across our healthcare inventory management platform - both for our existing enterprise solution and the next generation platform currently under development. This is an opportunity to play a foundational role in shaping how QA is done within our engineering organization.
About the Work:
Our platform helps organizations manage critical inventory and supply workflows in real time by integrating RFID readers, barcode scanners, and Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL) with leading ERP and enterprise business systems. We have a long history of building enterprise software on Microsoft technologies including C# and Microsoft SQL Server.
As we modernize our technology stack, we're transitioning to a cloud-based Azure platform and evolving toward a containerized architecture. Alongside that transformation, we're investing in stronger quality engineering practices, automation, CI/CD, and release processes across both our existing and next-generation systems. We're looking for someone who can help build and mature those practices from the ground up.
This is the first dedicated QA hire at the company. Engineers are currently QAing their own work, and this person will be responsible for building the entire QA process and department from scratch. The new platform is built on Azure Cloud with C# and React (web portal and Zebra Android handhelds); the existing legacy platform is on-premises Windows services and C#. A CI/CD pipeline is already in place.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and mature the company's QA function, including processes, standards, workflows, best practices, and quality metrics.
  • Design and execute comprehensive test strategies, plans, and cases covering functional, integration, regression, UI, API, cross-browser, end-to-end, and data validation testing.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks from the ground up to support long-term quality initiatives.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement QA automation tools, frameworks, and processes that best support the engineering organization.
  • Support quality initiatives across both the existing on-premises platform and the next-generation Azure cloud platform, helping drive the organization's transition to modern quality engineering practices.
  • Validate software workflows across web applications, APIs, databases, cloud-hosted applications, integrations, and hardware-integrated solutions.
  • Validate software workflows and data generated by RFID readers, barcode scanners, Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL), and Zebra Android mobile devices.
  • Test integrations with ERP, EHR, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, document issues, and partner closely with developers to drive timely resolution.
  • Participate in release validation, production readiness, and continuous improvement of CI/CD and software delivery practices.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to define testable acceptance criteria and ensure high-quality software throughout the development lifecycle.

Job Requirements
Requirements
  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • ISTQB certification is a plus.
  • Healthcare IT experience, including ERP/EHR integrations and familiarity with FHIR and HL7, is a plus.
  • Experience with RFID, barcode, inventory management systems, Zebra Android devices, or other hardware-integrated solutions is a plus.
  • 5+ years of QA experience supporting enterprise software applications.
    • Strong SDET background with hands-on experience designing, building, coding, and maintaining automation frameworks from scratch using C# in a Microsoft/.NET environment.
    • Experience building QA processes, standards, test strategies, and best practices from the ground up in an environment with little or no existing QA function.
    • Experience designing and executing functional, integration, regression, UI, cross-browser, end-to-end, API, and data validation testing.
    • Strong experience testing web applications, APIs, databases, integrations, ERP/EHR interfaces, complex business workflows, and distributed enterprise systems.
    • Strong SQL skills with the ability to independently investigate, validate, and troubleshoot complex data-related issues.
    • Experience evaluating, selecting, implementing, and maintaining automated testing tools and frameworks.
    • Experience testing cloud-based applications, preferably Microsoft Azure, including containerized applications, microservices, and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar test management and defect tracking platforms.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work independently, think through complex problems, and take ownership of quality initiatives.

Nice to haves:
  • Experience helping build or scale a QA organization from the ground up is a plus.
  • Experience with firmware or device connectivity testing is a plus.
  • Experience testing React applications or front-end testing frameworks is a plus.
  • Previous people leadership or mentoring experience is a plus.
  • Must be commutable to Orion Township (Auburn Hills area), MI. This is a hybrid role requiring increased on-site presence during initial onboarding and hardware setup, transitioning to approximately 1-2 days per week on-site thereafter.

Compensation depends on experience but is typically $90-110K plus an undefined bonus; however, we are willing to send qualified candidates over budget.
