Job description

Department:                    Department of Subways 

Location:                          2556 McDonald Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11223

Position Title:                   Occupational Safety Training Analyst, Emerging Talent Intern

Hourly Rate:                     $19.00 (Undergraduate), $21.00 (Graduate)

All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.

OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:

The safety and emergency response training unit (SERT) provides comprehensive training to all MTA employees to ensure their safety and preparedness in any emergency.  Some but not all trainings include NIMS, Certificate of Fitness, Confined Space Entry, Respirator Standard first aid and the Osha 10 Hour course. 

These projects allow the safety and emergency response unit to maintain efficient safety training delivery methods by using technology and data analysis to promote adherence to the best practices. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a working database to enhance Course development using Graphic design and metrics.
  • Updating/auditing current course curriculum.
  • Forecast trends to prepare for future quarterly scheduling.
  • IReport Generation.
  • Creating Instructor Schedule. 
  • Preparation of payroll. 
  • Phone and email communications to MTA employees and stakeholders.
  • Additional administrative task as needed. 

PROJECTS:

  • Update/Audit Fire safety curriculum
  • Forecasting and trend analysis on monthly training data
  • Create and maintain database for procurement and overtime 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills. 
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
  • Major(s) Preferred: Graphic Design, Database Administration, Data Science, Computer Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, Emergency Response, or related field.
