Job SummaryA Senior Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for overseeing the evaluation, implementation, and management of complex cybersecurity platforms and controls intended to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems while adhering to the credit union's standards and industry best practices.Job Description

To be effective, an individual must be able to perform each job duty successfully.

  • Evaluate, implement, and manage cybersecurity platforms, technologies, and integrations to provide coverage for critical security controls and reduce risk to the organization.
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity Architecture to provide subject matter expertise for designing effective security architecture.
  • Ensure that all cybersecurity platforms and tooling continue to operate in a healthy and effective manner by implementing monitoring.
  • Develops and maintains processes and procedures related to cybersecurity engineering activities and workflows.
  • Assists with the oversight of change control processes and provides subject matter expertise when reviewing and approving tickets.
  • Effectively contributes to the cybersecurity engineering roadmap, ensuring it aligns with organizational needs, operational priorities, and the architectural function's strategic guidance.
  • Provide support to vulnerability management by improving scanning capabilities, remediation workflows, platform integrations, and engineering-driven control enhancements.
  • Assist with post-incident engineering improvements, including root cause analysis, hardening actions, and automation opportunities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

EXPERIENCE

  • 6+ years of experience in Cybersecurity or Information Technology engineering or administration.
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience as a technical lead
  • 2+ years of experience with scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.) preferred.
  • Foundational knowledge of IT systems, services, technologies, and platforms (e.g., Windows, Linux, VMware, Cloud services).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Information systems in a professional environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION

Education must be from an accredited institution.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • CISSP, CISM, Security X (formerly CASP+) or equivalent certifications preferred.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Has no supervisory/managerial responsibilities; however, is expected to provide coaching and/or mentoring to others on the team.

COMPUTER/OFFICE EQUIPMENT SKILLS

Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are helpful, along with diagramming software such as Visio or Lucidchart.

Language Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly express ideas, methodology, results and recommendations verbally, in writing and through insightful reports and graphic illustrations
  • Demonstrated ability to document outcomes and present information in a manner appropriate for key stakeholders and all levels of the organization.
