What is a computer factory?

A computer factory is a manufacturing facility where computers and related hardware components are assembled, tested, and packaged. These factories may produce desktops, laptops, servers, and other computing devices on a large scale. The process involves sourcing electronic parts, assembling circuit boards, installing software, performing quality checks, and shipping finished products. Computer factories play a crucial role in meeting global demand for technology and ensuring product quality and reliability.

What is the difference between Computer Factory vs Computer Technician?

AspectComputer FactoryComputer Technician
CredentialsTypically no formal certification required; experience preferredCertifications like CompTIA A+ often required
Work EnvironmentManufacturing or assembly lines in factoriesClient sites, repair shops, or offices
Industry UsageUsed in manufacturing and assembly of computersUsed in repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting

While a Computer Factory focuses on assembling and manufacturing computers, a Computer Technician specializes in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining computer systems. Both roles require technical knowledge, but their work environments and daily tasks differ significantly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Computer Factory Worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Computer Factory Worker, you need a solid understanding of assembly processes, basic electronics, and quality control, often supported by a high school diploma or technical training. Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, conveyor systems, and inventory management software is typically required. Attention to detail, teamwork, and manual dexterity are important soft skills for ensuring efficiency and accuracy on the production line. These skills are crucial to maintain product quality, meet production targets, and ensure a safe, collaborative work environment.

What are some typical challenges faced by employees working in a computer factory, and how can they be addressed?

Employees in a computer factory often face challenges such as meeting production targets under tight deadlines, maintaining quality control, and adapting to rapidly changing technologies. To address these, many factories offer ongoing training, clear communication channels between teams, and structured support for troubleshooting production issues. Teamwork and attention to detail are highly valued, and many organizations also implement continuous improvement programs to streamline workflows and enhance the work environment.

What tech jobs pay 400,000 a year?

Job description

Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies manufacture rockets, satellites, jets, and ships up to 10x faster and up to 2x cheaper. By combining advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing, we are reinventing how America produces its most critical parts.

Weโ€™re accelerating our mission with the launch of Factory 3 in Mesa, Arizona, a 290,000-square-foot facility creating 350 new jobs. We are expanding rapidly to support thousands of future hires, launching Hadrian Maritime to expand into naval production, and introducing a Factory-as-a-Service model that delivers complete systems instead of individual parts.

Hadrian is backed by leading investors including T. Rowe Price, Lux Capital, Founders Fund, and Andreessen Horowitz, our fast-growing team is united around reindustrializing American manufacturing for the 21st century and beyond.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and driven Mechanical Engineer to join Hadrianโ€™s Factory Automation division, a team dedicated to building and scaling Hadrianโ€™s core machining business. This role is focused on the design, development, and commissioning of automated robotic cells that support high-precision, scalable manufacturing.

As part of this team, you will work directly with hardware engineers, software engineers, and robotics engineers to bring advanced production systems from concept to operation. You will help execute our Machining roadmap to scale Hadrian to be multi-factory across the US. We are looking to add a curious and self-motivated expert to join our already world class team.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Lead the mechanical design for advanced automated manufacturing robotic cells, including end effector design, fixturing and cell layouts.

  • Install, commission and debug automation systems on the production floor. Diagnose and resolve mechanical system and hardware issues.

  • Develop standards, documentation, and procedures for scalable automation deployment.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, physics or related discipline.

  • Experience with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks

  • Experience designing and commissioning end of arm tooling and fixturing for industrial robotic applications

  • Experience designing and commissioning layouts and floor plans for robotic cells

  • Experience with material selection, finite element analysis, and payload analysis for heavy (500 kg) robotic applications

  • Strong skills in integrating sensors and pneumatic and mechanical components

  • Strong skills performing risk assessments in accordance with safety standards such as ISO 13849 or ANSI B11.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems using diagnostic tools and lead structured root cause analysis.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

For this role, the target salary range is $130,000 - $220,000 (actual range may vary based on experience).

This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Benefits for Full-time Employees
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees

  • 401k

  • Relocation support may be provided for certain situations, based on business need.

  • Flexible vacation policy

  • Equity
