Job description

Technique is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and improvement of mechanical components, systems, and equipment. You will collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and project teams to deliver safe, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions that meet customer and business requirements.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and brings 2–7 years of experience in mechanical or design engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, a strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards, and experience with product design, equipment design, or tooling/fixture design are critical factors in this role.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical components – Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems from concept through production.
  • Create 2D drawings and 3D models – Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Perform engineering calculations – Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection to ensure performance, safety, and durability.
  • Support prototyping and testing – Support prototyping, testing, validation, and design verification activities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing – Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, assembly, and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in design reviews – Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot issues – Troubleshoot design, manufacturing, or field issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation – Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including BOMs, specifications, and change requests.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance – Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support NPI and engineering changes – Support new product introductions (NPI) and engineering change processes.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors – Work closely with suppliers and vendors on component design, sourcing, and technical requirements as needed.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 2–7 years of experience in mechanical or design engineering (manufacturing or industrial environment preferred)
  • Experience with product design, equipment design, or tooling/fixture design
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with GD&T and engineering drawing standards
  • Ability to perform basic stress, thermal, and motion analysis
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Comfortable working in a modern manufacturing facility environment with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, vibration, and loud noise
