Job description

The Controls Team Lead - Specialized Engineering supervises a team of Controls Technical Lead - Specialized Machines to design and integrate controls systems for industrial material-handling solutions and production lines. This position works closely with the other Controls Team Leads and reports to the Manager of Controls Commissioning.
What you'll be handling
  • Guides team and performs supervisory tasks including scheduling, review and approval of timecards, time-off requests, expense reports, and performance management activities (with support of manager).
  • Leads the design, development, and commissioning of control systems using PLCs to meet project requirements.
  • Writes and debugs Controls applications to ensure proper functioning of control systems.
  • Create Descriptions of Operations for material handling solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Manages integration of prototype solutions and creates handover documentation to transition knowledge to Controls Commissioning Engineers.
  • Provides support for installed systems, performing preventative maintenance and implementing system upgrades as required.
What you'll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Controls-related field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science) or equivalent work experience.
  • Ten (10) or more years of hands-on Controls Engineering experience, preferably in material-handling, industrial, or warehouse environment.
  • Robust knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, with the ability to read e-drawings and AutoCAD drawings.
  • Prior experience in formal or informal leadership roles.
