About the Role
The Manager, Systems Engineering is responsible for leading systems engineering initiatives from concept through verification, ensuring strong requirements management, quality engineering practices, and lifecycle compliance. This role provides both technical and people leadership, partnering across engineering and business teams to deliver stable, scalable, and well-governed technology solutions.
You will play a key role in shaping engineering processes, managing technical requirements, supporting enterprise infrastructure, and building a high-performing team focused on innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
Systems Engineering Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of systems engineers.
  • Provide technical direction, coaching, and career development opportunities.

  • Support recruiting, onboarding, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
Requirements Management & Governance
  • Oversee the development, analysis, allocation, and management of system requirements.
  • Ensure requirements traceability throughout design, implementation, verification, and validation phases.
  • Review and approve requirements documentation and change management activities.
  • Identify requirement gaps, conflicts, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish metrics and best practices that strengthen requirements management processes.
Architecture & Technical Solutions
  • Partner with engineering leadership to define enterprise system architectures and technical solutions.
  • Ensure solutions align with business objectives, technical requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and key technical decision-making processes.
  • Support system design evaluations and risk assessments throughout the development lifecycle.
Quality, Validation & Operational Excellence
  • Lead verification and validation planning and execution efforts.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing people, technical teams, or functional groups.
  • Demonstrated success leading technical teams and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle methodologies.
  • Experience with requirements management, verification and validation, systems integration, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Technical Expertise
  • Experience managing systems engineering operations in a mid-sized enterprise environment.
  • Strong background in enterprise infrastructure architecture, deployment, and support.
  • Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, and other virtualization platforms.
  • Experience supporting Cisco UCS platforms and related infrastructure architecture.
  • Knowledge of patch management, vulnerability management, and threat remediation practices.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and change control processes.
  • Experience with requirements traceability and management tools.
  • Telecommunications and contact center technologies, including flow design, automation, and reporting.
  • Proven success implementing process improvements and operational best practices.

Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $168,000, not including fringe benefits or potential bonuses. At Liberty, your final base salary will be determined by factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience. We are committed to pay equity and also consider the internal equity of our current team members when making final compensation decisions.
Please note that the range listed represents the full base salary range for this role. Typically, offers are not made at the top of the range to allow for future salary growth.
