Job Purpose
The Manager, Engineering leads the redesign, repair and continuous improvement of wind turbine and renewable energy production components. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership to guide engineering personnel in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to safety, quality and operations excellence.
Responsibilities & Tasks
  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of the Clipper Engineering Department, setting priorities and goals aligned with Longroad Energy's annual objectives.
  • Establish, track, and report key performance metrics to measure departmental effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing and repair methods through technical knowledge of product design, materials, tooling, production equipment, assembly, and quality control standards.
  • Provide expert-level technical support to enhance production and quality processes.
  • Oversee all Clipper technical writing activities, ensuring accuracy, clarity and compliance.
  • Lead initiatives to identify, evaluate, and implement new tools, fixtures, and equipment to improve manufacturing and quality outcomes.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality and process issues, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Purchasing, Materials, Production Planning, Finance, and other internal teams to align engineering capabilities/solutions with production needs.
  • Support the development and training of assembly teams on new or improved processes.
  • Participate as an active member of the Clipper leadership team, contributing to financial planning, production strategy, and annual operating plans.
  • Drive waste reduction by analyzing and minimizing scrap, rework, and inefficiencies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (BSEE) or Master's in engineering (MSEE)
  • 10 years of progressive electrical or manufacturing experience
  • 3 years in an engineering management or supervisory role within a manufacturing or energy environment.
  • Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA, UL, and OSHA electrical standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Creo/Pro-E or equivalent 3D design software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Expert knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and electrical PPE protocols

Desired/Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or equivalent business education.
  • Experience in renewable energy or power generation industries
  • Strong background in renewable power conversion systems
  • Familiarity with PCB design.
