Job description

Position: Digital Hardware Engineer
Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania (On-site only — no remote)
Role Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Digital Hardware Engineer with strong PC board design expertise to develop specialty, made-to-order embedded control systems built to withstand harsh industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and improve digital hardware for embedded control platforms
  • Create and update schematics and PCBs; manage component selection, DFM, and DFT practices
  • Lead peer reviews for schematics, PCB layout, and design outputs
  • Design microcontroller I/O, signal conditioning, and serial communication buses (SPI, I²C, UART)
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers on interface definitions and board bring-up
  • Execute board-level validation, functional testing, and EMC compliance
  • Partner with manufacturing to resolve build issues and support release to production
  • Produce clear documentation: BOMs, interface specs, cost estimates, and revision control
Required Qualifications
  • BS/MS in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on digital circuits
  • Proficiency in Altium (schematic and PCB layout)
  • Digital logic, embedded microcontrollers, serial communications (SPI, I²C, UART, Ethernet, RS-232/485)
