Job description

Job Summary:
Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking a Software Engineer for their Advanced Concepts Laboratory. The role involves designing, developing, and testing software applications while managing development teams and ensuring adherence to software development lifecycle practices.
Responsibilities:
• Perform software development, debugging, modification, enhancement, and documentation
• Design, test, and develop computer software in order to meet program requirements
• Apply expertise in computing systems to define requirements and develop software designs recognizing limitations of target hardware platforms
• Develop and maintain kernel and user-level software and scripts
• Contribute to research reports, presentations, white papers, and competitive proposals
• Create and analyze network protocols
• Lead and conduct research and development in the area of modeling and simulation of government-owned simulation frameworks
• Develop software applications using C++, Java, MATLAB, Python, and other industry-standard languages
• Develop tools, technologies, and processes to support the analysis of national defense-related systems and scenarios
• Implement software development and configuration management best practices and coding standards
• Participate in technical meetings with GTRI and sponsor personnel
• Collaborate with sponsors, engineering teams, and project directors to ensure project deliverables and requirements are met
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
• B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study
• Extensive experience in at least one (1) of the following languages: C++, Java, Python, MATLAB
• Experience with Software Engineering processes and best practices
• Experience with Modeling and Simulation
• Experience in writing technical papers and presenting technical material
• Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
• 5+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related discipline
• 3+ years of related experience with a Masters’ degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related discipline
• 0+ years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related discipline
• U.S. Citizenship Requirements: Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
• Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
Preferred:
• Active TS/SCI Clearance
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study
• Extensive experience with three or more of the following languages: C, C++, Python, Java, MATLAB
• Extensive experience with modeling and simulation of government-owned simulation frameworks, especially AFSIM
• Understanding of systems engineering concepts
