Saalex Corporation is seeking multiple Database Administrator III in Tidewater, VA and San Diego, CA. Saalex Corp., is an Engineering and Information Technology Services company with a focus on Test Range Operations and Management, Engineering and Logistics Services, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence Services and Information Technology Services. Founded in 1999 by Travis Mack, Saalex Solutions is a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned and Operated business with prime and subcontract expertise serving the Navy, Army, Air Force, NASA, corporate clients, and local governments. Position Type: Contingent on Contract Award.

Salary: $115k-$160k (depending on experience)

The Database Administrator III supports the Navy by designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise database systems supporting global Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) environments. This role focuses on database architecture, performance optimization, security, and high availability across mission-critical systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) in support of NETTN operations.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
  • Implement and maintain database security controls, including encryption, access controls, and auditing in accordance with RMF and STIG requirements.
  • Manage database backup, recovery, replication, and high availability solutions.
  • Support database integration with enterprise applications and systems.
  • Perform capacity planning, monitoring, and troubleshooting of database environments.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD and Navy cybersecurity policies and database STIGs.
  • Support system accreditation (ATO) activities including documentation and remediation.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

Required:

  • 5–7 years of experience in database administration, engineering, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Hands-on experience administering enterprise databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high availability solutions.
  • Knowledge of database security practices, RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, or equivalent).

Desired:

  • Experience supporting DoD or Navy programs and classified environments.
  • Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
  • Familiarity with automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, SQL scripting).
