Job description

SUMMARY

Hangar & Large Application Doors (HLAD), a division of ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems US, Inc., is seeking candidates for a Contract Negotiator / Contract Manager position.  Location on site is preferable but remote work will be considered for the right candidate. 

In this position, the successful candidate will review and provide legal contract negotiation, administrative and some commercial support to ASSA ABLOY's Hangar and Large Application company commonly referred to as Megadoor .  He or she will be an energetic person, assertive and possess either a solid background in commercial, construction and procurement law or a strong desire to learn.  This person will be an integral part of the HLAD team and will work with senior level employees and executives within the organization along with interesting customers in industries such as Aerospace, Military, and multi-national contractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand HLAD's unique business, customer base and approach to satisfying its unique market
  • Review contracts of all types with a focus on construction contracts
  • Redline contracts of all types with a focus on construction contracts
  • Be comfortable arguing a position
  • Interface with high-level businesspeople within HLAD
  • Take the lead in contract negotiations
  • Prepare amendments
  • Own the contracting process from review to execution to expiry to renewal
  • Handle administrative responsibility for provision of insurance certifications as well as enrolment of HLAD into OCIPs
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, paralegal certificate or significant practical experience as a paralegal.  Early-mid career Juris Doctor's with relevant experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Understanding of and familiarity with construction law
  • Experience working with government and/or large organisations
  • Experience with and a desire to negotiate
  • Willingness to make decisions
  • Efficiency and ability to prioritise

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm with additional hours as required.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to access and navigate at the organization's facility
