Job Summary

Provide direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family; provide care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Maintain regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Answer phone calls incoming to the clinic by patients and send each provider/MA/Nurse messages about patient’s needs or concerns. To return calls to patients regarding concerns/questions/request per direction for provider. Communicate with physicians and team members about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Must be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment and able to perform general medical assistant duties in all departments with adequate supervision. To provide safe, courteous and competent patient care.

  • Perform electrocardiograms
  • Wound care and dressing changes
  • Transmit prescription refills as directed
  • Code and fill out insurance forms
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities
  • Arrange hospital/ED admissions and laboratory services
  • Update and file patient medical records
  • Process patient communication (verbal, paper, telephone, fax correspondence)
  • Referral submission and completion (DME, wound care/PT, Home Health/Hospice, and medication prior authorizations)
  • Attend monthly training sessions
  • Must be able to work off peak hours, occasionally, (on-call rotation, required)
  • Adhere to regulatory standards, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days from hire
  • Experience in medical field preferred
