Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Community Health Center (VNACJ CHC), a federally qualified health center in Monmouth County, dedicated to offering accessible, high-quality healthcare to New Jersey residents. Our comprehensive services span preventive care, primary care, wellness support, mental health counseling, prenatal care, and more—all delivered in a compassionate, community-focused environment. With four locations serving families of all ages, we’re committed to providing care that meets the unique needs of each individual.


Position Summary:

We are looking for a motivated part-time Dental Assistant to join our team, serving patients across our Monmouth County locations in Asbury Park, Red Bank, Keyport, and Freehold. As the float Dental Assistant, you will work as a team player to support dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials; assisting chairside during procedures; and ensuring care is delivered in compliance with the Dental Practice Act. You’ll help create a positive patient experience in a fast-paced setting where professionalism, adaptability, and teamwork truly matter.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Supports organization’s mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers

  • Assists the Dentists and Dental Practice Manager in developing, implementing and evaluating the operation strategies of the Dental Center

  • Provides assistance with patient care and dental health screenings in accordance with agency guidelines and regulatory requirements

  • Provides oral health instructions, Post operative instruction and education to patients as appropriate

  • Prepares documentation and provides administrative support to the Dental Center

  • Sterilization of instruments following FQHC/State DOH guidelines and maintain logs and records according to agency’s policy

  • Adheres to agency infection control and safety policies

  • Adheres to the organization’s policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance


Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (preferred)

  • Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program (preferred)

  • Valid NJ Radiology License and X‑Ray Certification (required)

  • Ambulatory Sterilization Certification (preferred; required by first work anniversary)

  • Strong computer skills

  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills

  • Valid NJ driver’s license and auto insurance

  • Bilingual Spanish skills (a plus)



Working Conditions/Physical Demand: Business Office Environment within a fast paced healthcare center with heavy customer service, phones and computer use; client/customer contact; sitting, fine motor hand movement, standing, walking, lifting 40 pounds, pushing, reaching, pulling

Specific Equipment Used: x-ray machines, drills, dental instruments, decontamination and sterilization equipment.
