Summary

Perform bench-type processes to complete mechanical and electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies, using hand tools, and electronic and pneumatic tooling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test according to blueprints, diagrams and specifications using hand tools, power tools, precision instruments and test equipment
  • Read blueprints and technical orders to determine methods and sequence of assembly operations
  • Examine parts for surface defects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
  • Align, fit and assemble component parts into completed units using hand tools, power tools fixtures and templates
  • Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to blueprint specifications using precision instruments such as calipers, etc.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision
  • May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shift from one station to another during the assembly processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Minimum High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 6 months of hands-on assembly experience
  • Experienced and familiar with electro-mechanical assembly processes and associated tools/instruments
  • Must have experience reading assembly drawings/diagrams and completing work to specifications
