Position Title: Web Design Specialist
Position Location: This position is hybrid in Arlington, VA.
Daily Responsibilities:
  • Creates web sites and web resources on a wide range of subjects, ranging from technical procedures to soft-skills content.
  • Leads sessions with clients that include design-thinking principles to identify the content relevant to different user goals and desired outcomes.
  • Curates large amounts of content and sections it into relevant portions that are right sized to address user goals and also promote reusability across a wider viewership.
  • Creates user-driven journey/flow to quickly take users from the beginning page to the desired content/outcome.
  • Designs overall structure of web sites and web resources to allow for quick access to materials using industry best practices in user interface and web design.
  • Pilots materials, analyzes pilot results, and adjusts design based on data collected.
  • Communicates suggestions, recommended plans, and status regularly with clients and division leadership.
  • Works with clients and internal teams to implement solutions.
  • Contributes knowledge of industry best practices in web design and interface design.

Required Years of Experience (min):
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field

Required Degree:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalency.

Required Experience:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design thinking, user interface, and web design principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SharePoint, MS Teams, and Google Sites.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively write, review, and edit content.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of responsive web design, interface usability guidelines, information architecture, Section 508 accessibility, SCORM, and integration of media into web-based training applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional production teams (e.g., graphic artists, web developers, and content editors).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently - including developing timelines, managing own work, and managing communications with all stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
  • Knowledge/awareness of different training media/modalities, including eLearning courses, mobile learning, simulations, microlearning, ePublishing, blended learning/flipped classroom, and games.
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with web analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
  • Ability to understand desired results for the site's users and clearly communicate how to best achieve results given the constraints present.
  • Understanding of digital marketing and social media.
  • Ability to communicate design rationale in concise, plain-language terms.
