Senior Research Scientist

This is an On-Site role located in Portland, OR

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast paced, busy environment for a leading global provider of outsourced development services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. The primary role of the Senior Research Scientist is to oversee the scientific aspects of an assay development/validation project. Experience with medical device design manufacturing following ISO 13485 standards preferred.

  • Independently direct development and validation of new genomic assays
  • Exhibit scientific leadership related to the testing of clinical trial samples for RT-PCR, qPCR, and ddPCR assays
  • Independently manage all aspects of R&D assay validations; experiments, data analysis, sponsor updates, interact with: Scientific Affairs, IT, operational labs, business development, and project management teams
  • Experienced multi-tasker with the ability to work independently with a high degree of quality
  • Attend and present results at client facing meetings
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven track record in delivering focused customer service and client satisfaction
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Serve as a scientific leader within the department
  • Ability to remain composed and even keeled in stressful situations, performing effectively in spite of shifting priorities, workload and external pressures
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in genomic assays
  • PhD in science related field preferred, Bachelors or master's with 6 to 8 years of experience
  • Experience with medical device design or manufacturing following ISO 13485 standards preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, good laboratory, and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to multitask, along with an orientation toward teamwork and leadership, and strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
