CAD Drafter
Job Summary
Uses software to convert designs into technical drawings and plans.
General Accountabilities
Produces designs, working drawings, charts, forms and records using computer-aided design and drafting (CAD) software.
Works from rough sketches and specifications created by engineers and architects.
Modifies and revises designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
Computes mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications.
Lays out and draws schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems and machines.
Coordinates with other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
Checks dimensions of materials to be used and assigns numbers to the materials.
Reviews and analyzes specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
Helps design products with engineering and manufacturing techniques.
Prepares designs for review by engineers and architects.
Specifies dimensions, materials, and procedures for new products.
Analyzes building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.
Designs scale or full-size blueprints.
