Key Responsibilities

HET seeks a CAD Designer to support Product engineer in making changes to or creating new 3D models, drawings and technical specifications. In addition, the designer assists in managing the changes to engineering records to insure the integrity and configuration control of HET product lines (turbochargers, wastegates, valves and controls, fuel pumps, alternators, starter motors, ignitions systems, voltage regulators and cabin heaters).

Requirements

 Key Deliverables of the Position

1) Generate models and drawings for components or assemblies based on measurements taken from components, sketches, 2D drawings or laser scan point clouds. 

2) Process engineering changes requests via SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

3) Use accepted design techniques in ASME Y14.5, including GD&T, to modify or create drawings.

4) Create and modify all affected areas on Bills of Material (BOM) such as part number, revision level and release date.

5) Construct specification forms and complete specifications as directed for distribution.


First Year Success Factors

1) Proficiency with HET change management processes.

2) Familiarization with all HET product lines.


Required Education and Experience

Two-year technical degree in Drafting and Design Technology preferred or equivalent certifications and/or work experience.


Required Technical Competencies

1) Experience with and working knowledge of 2D & 3D CAD software, preferably Solidworks.

2) Experience with ASME Y14.5 Drafting Standard, including GD&T.

3) Experience working in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment.

4) Experience with mechanical structures and tolerancing for various manufacturing methods used to produce them, such as castings, stampings, forgings, injection moldings, machining, etc. 

5) Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.

6) Proficiency with various forms of hard gauging such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.

7) Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Technical Competencies

1) Experience with SolidWorks software.

2) Experience with aviation related products and the FAA regulatory system.

1. Support plant operations and customers by providing technical guidance and leadership to resolve product related issues.

2. Design, develop, and manage through production launch improvement projects for components and associated systems in compliance with customer and/or regulatory guidelines.

3. Manage and coordinate FAA certification efforts including DO-160 testing on new & existing products.
