Job description

Location: Farmington Hills, MI Salary: $80,000.00 USD Annually - $100,000.00 USD Annually Description:
Senior-level CAD Designer to support 3D design and modification of automotive parts and assemblies. The position will work closely with Engineering to perform design investigations, feasibility studies, design analysis, and resolution of product/design issues. The role requires strong independent judgment around design suitability, manufacturability, tooling, fit/clearance, quality, cost, and customer requirements.
Hiring Team Priorities:
  • Target approximately 10-20 years of CAD/design experience.
  • Strong preference for candidates whose primary career focus has been hands-on CAD/design, rather than engineers who use CAD only periodically.
  • NX / Siemens NX experience preferred.
  • CATIA V5/V6 experience is also relevant.
  • Strong 3D CAD modeling and parametric modeling experience required.
  • Automotive/product design experience strongly preferred.
  • Engineering degree is NOT required.
  • Two-year technical degree, Associate's degree, or vocational/technical training is consistent with the target profile.
  • HVAC experience preferred but not required.

Key Technical Requirements:
  • 3D part and assembly design/modification.
  • Parametric modeling.
  • Siemens NX, CATIA V5/V6 and/or comparable 3D CAD platforms.
  • GD&T interpretation and application.
  • 2D drawing and 3D CAD data interpretation.
  • Interference and clearance checks.
  • Vehicle coordinate systems / automotive packaging.
  • Redesign of mounting and connection features.
  • Tolerance stack-ups.
  • CAD data management.

  • Teamcenter experience preferred.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
Senior CAD Designer / Senior Product Designer / Mechanical Designer with approximately 10-20 years of hands-on automotive/product design experience. Ideal candidates will have spent the majority of their career creating and modifying 3D parts and assemblies and should be comfortable working independently with Engineering, Manufacturing, Tooling, and Quality teams. Strong NX experience, GD&T knowledge, automotive packaging/clearance experience, and familiarity with Teamcenter are significant differentiators.
