Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for executing assigned engineering tasks including compliance, driving lean initiatives, and achieving set metrics. The Operations Packaging Engineer should be a self-starter, have a hands-on approach in performing their work duties, and be able to work independently. This position will help RTI Surgical maximize the number of patients served while maintaining a high level of quality and safety and will be instrumental in achieving RTI Alachua site goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for selecting appropriate packaging materials and developing packaging designs to minimize waste, reduce costs, and ensure product safety during transportation and storage.
  • Design and facilitate the development of packaging prototypes and conduct testing to meet required specifications.
  • Work closely with different teams across the company to make packaging solutions efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective.
  • Ideate, develop, and implement packaging solutions that meet the needs of the company, regulatory bodies, and customers.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select ideal packaging materials, machinery, and equipment.
  • Work on reducing packaging-related costs and improving the efficiency of the product packaging process.
  • Monitor industry trends and innovations to stay updated with best practices and technologies for packaging.
  • Design packaging solutions that protect and preserve products during transportation, storage and handling.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to determine the suitability of packaging solutions for specific products.
  • Analyzing data and researching to improve the packaging process and implementing relevant solutions.
  • Developing and executing standard operating procedures and guidelines for product packaging in the company.
  • Ensure consistency and quality of packaging across the organization.

  • Familiarity with production equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of sustainability and environmental issues related to packaging.

Physical Requirement:

  • Move or lift objects up to 25 pounds
  • Frequent (>75%) stationary position (standing or sitting) while utilizing digital displays
  • Frequent (>75%) fine manipulation using hands and fingers (typing, opening, writing, clicking, paper sorting, etc.)
