Job description

a well-established manufacturer is looking to bring a CAD Drafter on to its team. The company is projected to grow from $30M to $40M in annual revenue, expand its workforce by 20%, and is planning a facility expansion after making significant investments in new equipment, renewable energy, and a new ERP system. If you're looking to join a stable, growing manufacturer where you can learn from an experienced engineering team and build your career, this is an excellent opportunity.

What You'll Do

As a CAD Drafter, you'll support the Engineering team by modifying existing 3D models and engineering drawings for custom industrial lifting equipment. Rather than designing products from scratch, you'll customize proven designs based on customer requirements by updating dimensions, adding accessories, and creating production-ready drawing packages.

Responsibilities include:

  • Modify existing 3D models and assemblies to meet customer specifications
  • Create and update detailed engineering drawings for manufacturing
  • Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Prepare accurate drawing packages for production
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure documentation is complete and accurate
  • Learn the company's products, engineering standards, and ERP system while taking on increasingly complex projects over time
Qualifications

Required:

  • 0–5+ years of drafting, CAD, or engineering experience
  • Experience creating and modifying 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks, Inventor, Siemens NX, or similar 3D CAD software
  • Basic understanding of mechanical drawings, assemblies, and engineering documentation
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new engineering software and ERP systems
  • Mechanically inclined, curious, and eager to learn

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree in Drafting, CAD Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related field
  • Experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs) or manufacturing documentation
Why Join?
  • - Join a company making significant investments in growth, technology, and its people
    • Work alongside an experienced engineering team that enjoys mentoring early-career professionals
    • Family-oriented culture with long-tenured employees and approachable leadership
    • Opportunity to grow your technical skills and advance your engineering career
    • Tuition reimbursement
    • Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance
    • Specialty prescription drug coverage
    • Stable business focused on high-quality, custom-engineered products rather than high-volume commodity manufacturing

Location: St. Charles, IL

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay: $25–$28/hour (flexibility up to $30/hour based on experience)

You should be proficient in:

  • CAD Software
  • Product Design Experience
  • CAD/CAM Software
  • Blueprint Reading

Machines & technologies you'll use:

  • CAD Software (Solidworks, AutoCAD, Siemens NX, Pro-E / Creo, NX CAD (Siemens), Autodesk Inventor)
