Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated CAD Designer to join our team as an individual contributor. In this role, you will play a key part in improving shop drawings, manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality, and optimizing efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements, troubleshoot production issues, and support the engineering team for the overall manufacturing goals of the company.
The role of CAD Designer will be to create and/or modify component and assembly design layouts; dimensional stacks; component, assembly and proposal drawings with minimal engineering direction and in accordance with customer requirements.
Reports To: Manager Design & Drafting
Work Location: 2001 Proenergy Blvd, Sedalia, MO 65301
Position Responsibilities
  • Designs products for ease of manufacturing with high reliability that are in compliance with customer and or specific code requirements.
  • Checks engineering design drawings, parts lists, and cut sheets for accuracy and thoroughness against shop drawings produced for manufacturing and notifies the Design Engineer or Engineering Manager of any non-conformance within the engineering system that identifies gaps in information required to complete task.
  • Ensures all information given is accurately replicated within the drawing set produced for shop and field fabrication and assembly.
  • Ensures all engineering change notices (ECRN(s)) and (NCR(s)) are processed efficiently, effectively, and consistently and that all booked orders for standard designs have complete documentation.
  • Attends design review and project kickoff meetings, as required.
  • Monitors and reports status of design assignments and ensures assigned work deadlines are met.
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with other departments within ProEnergy as well as with potential suppliers.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Required Qualifications
  • Trade School Diploma or Equivalent (5) years of work experience in a similar working capacity. Preferred: Associate degree in engineering related field
  • 3+ years' experience with the primary responsibilities inclusive of mechanical component and assembly drawings and the creation of bills of materials in a metal fabrication, structural fabrication, heavy industrial, power generation, or similar manufacturing environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in order to meet deadlines for long-and short-term objectives...
  • Experience using computer-aided drafting principles, geometric tolerancing fundamentals and familiarization, and use of established design standards to create mechanical designs for manufacturing.
  • Experience with Inventor 2022-2026 and AutoCAD 2D applications as needed to provide sufficient design output.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite programs.
  • Technical competence including understanding software, hardware, networks, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of measuring tools and theory of measuring. Tape measure, Calipers, Micrometers, Levels. etc.
  • Proficient in math: geometry, trigonometry, basic business arithmetic.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with CAD/CAM nesting/programming software, MES, ERP, PLM, or other manufacturing execution and production tracking systems.
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes for newly in-sourced products or transferring work from suppliers into internal production.
  • Experience with running preliminary stress analysis on parts and assemblies.
  • Hands-on experience with fixture design, shop tooling, weld fixtures, assembly aids, inspection gauges, lifting aids, or material handling tools.
  • Experience with FARO Laser Tracker (or similar device) and LiDAR equipment and software.
  • Familiarity with AWS D1.1, AISC, ASME, ANSI, OSHA, ISO, or other fabrication, structural, mechanical, and manufacturing standards.
  • Proficient in the use of a variety of general office equipment and skilled at typing at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
  • Knowledge of communication principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of principles of business letter writing and report preparation.
  • Knowledge of correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
