Job description

Title:
Construction Design Drafter JOB SUMMARY:
Provide drafting support to architectural, mechanical, electrical, and civil/structural design engineers in accordance with organizational Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) standards. Provides support to the government project manager(s). ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on a knowledge of the design intent.
• Interpret general designs prepared by others to complete details.
• May provide advice and guidance to project managers for clarity in design drawings.
• May serve as a coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects.
• Liaise with engineers to gather product and structural requirements and designs.
• Research equipment dimensions and site preparation guides and correlate requirements with existing floor plans for optimal layout.
• Create detailed drawings with CAD software like MicroStation or SolidWorks.
• Create MicroStation elements and commonly used items for inclusion to cell libraries for efficient and consistent designs.
• Design diagrams and layouts to illustrate workflow.
• Prepare rough sketches and to be reviewed with the engineering team.
• Identify potential issues and suggest alternate designs to mitigate them.
• Ensure final designs comply with Army regulations and industry standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Associates degree and at least 5+ years of relevant drafting experience
• US Citizenship AND the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance • Moderate to extensive working experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD software PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Active Secret Security Clearance • Extensive working experience with SolidWorks computer-aided design (CAD) software • Ability to navigate and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and interface requirements
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex system behaviors • Good math skills
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with engineers, program management, and government customers
• Able to work both independently and in a team environment
• Able to clearly communicate, express, and understand complex information
• Able to work with multiple project managers with different design needs and requirements Salary Range: $70,000-$85,000 This salary range posted is for Huntsville, AL.
