JOB DESCRIPTION
Are you looking for a great opportunity in Aiken, South Carolina? Come join our team at Emerson Discrete Automation. We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer. We have a great opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer or Industrial Engineer who is eager to grow with our company here at Emerson Discrete Automation. This role will work with the Engineering Manager and will be responsible for various operations within the engineering department.
IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL:
  • Work "hands-on" with assembly operations in the production of fluid and pneumatic control products, and valve products used with air, water, compressed liquids, and gases.
  • Be responsible for problem-solving and fixing within the Valve and Actuator assembly departments, including pneumatic, electronic, and PLC-controlled test equipment.
  • Support of product assembly, including root cause analysis through fixing processes of component assembly and testing.
  • Source capital equipment for replacement equipment or new projects.
  • Create part routings.
  • Quote components for internal costing.
  • Support new product development, pilot runs, and product launches, and existing product localization and development of work cells.
  • Validate/create assembly procedures and product performance.
  • Lead/create PFMEA, Process Flow Charts, and Assembly Procedures.
  • Use appropriate systems to document change approvals when required.
  • Test products and verify the level of compliance using either laboratory or production equipment while supporting activities related to customer returns and corrective actions.
  • Use of Oracle software, AutoCAD, CREO 3D CAD Modeling, and Office 365.
  • Implement Perfect Execution, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Support/lead cost reduction projects.
  • Obey all safety rules and stop work if continuing is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition. Report all safety concerns immediately.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.

WHO YOU ARE: You look for obstacles and develop excellent contingency plans. You find and champion the best creative ideas and actively move them into implementation. You experiment with a range of existing technologies while applying new and emerging options that can enhance organizational outcomes. You orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish a goal. You seek ways to improve processes, from small tweaks to complete reengineering.
FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:
  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Tooling and Fixture Design
  • Ability to read Blueprint and GD&T familiarity
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical components, and industrial engineering applications.
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of manufacturing assembly equipment and ability to fix using root cause analysis
  • Strong mechanical abilities, fixing experience with root cause analysis.
  • Possess excellent communication skills.
  • Act with utmost integrity, professionalism and positive demeanor.
  • Must be a great teammate and lead by example.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future
    • Individuals with temporary visas such as E, F-1 (including those with OPT or CPT), H-1, H-2, L-1, B, J or TN, or who need sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, are not eligible for hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:
  • Ability to program, and troubleshoot PLCs
  • Strong organizational ability, communication (written and oral), interpersonal, engineering drawing skills, and computer skills including Auto CAD and/or CREO as well as Microsoft office.
  • Knowledge of 5S+1, lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvements.
  • Strong understanding of tooling, machining, and equipment building principles.

PHYSICAL DEMAND & WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • While performing duties may be required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, twist, and/or lift up to 40 pounds throughout an entire shift.
  • Exposed to manufacturing plant conditions and elements, including but not limited to noise, dust, dirt, oil, and grease.
  • PPE's will be required, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and/or earplugs
  • May be required to work at different workstations as business needs require.
