  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and production-ready 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Perform engineering calculations, weight distribution analysis, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate structural integrity and product performance.
  • Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support ERP integration.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve design challenges, improve manufacturability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide engineering support during prototype development, testing, and product validation.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable transportation regulations, including DOT, FMVSS, SAE, and related industry standards.
  • Partner with Sales and Purchasing teams to review customer specifications, evaluate components, and provide technical guidance.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to ongoing product development and engineering improvements.

  • 3-5+ years of mechanical design experience in heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, transportation, trailers, automotive, or OEM manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience creating production drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis, engineering calculations, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Understanding of metal fabrication, welding processes, and steel and aluminum design.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of DOT, FMVSS, NHTSA, SAE, and other transportation industry regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, sales, and supply chain teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing commercial trailers or heavy-haul transportation equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, suspension systems, and axle configurations.
  • Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing or Lean Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
