The AI CAD Engineer is responsible for enhancing and maintaining automation systems used by design and engineering teams. This role involves applying machine learning, generative AI, and computational scripting to streamline workflows, optimize complex structures, and improve overall design accuracy beyond traditional rule-based methods.
Key Responsibilities
- AI Integration & Automation: Develop and integrate AI-assisted tools within CAD environments to automate tasks such as 3D geometry creation, conceptual design, and 2D drawing generation.
- Design Optimization: Apply machine learning and optimization algorithms to predict design outcomes and improve the efficiency of parts, assemblies, or architectural plans.
- Workflow Enhancement: Facilitate data migration between CAD systems and build systems for quality assurance and model checks.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and AI/software teams to define design requirements, build reusable components, and translate business logic into actionable CAD code or scripts.
- Quality Assurance: Use AI-enabled tools to proactively detect structural errors, manufacturing constraint violations, or code compliance issues prior to prototyping.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or computational tools like OpenSCAD).
- Programming proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, or C++ for scripting and algorithm development.
- AI & Machine Learning: Foundational knowledge of generative AI, LLMs, and modular object-oriented design principles.
- Problem-Solving: Strong capability in managing ambiguous problems, reverse-engineering concepts, and working with diverse stakeholders to align technical solutions with project goals. [1, 2]
