Job description

About the Role

Broyhill is looking for a hands-on, mechanically minded engineer who enjoys being on the shop floor as much as working in CAD. This is not a desk-only engineering position. We're seeking someone who can lead prototype tractor builds, solve problems in real time, and work closely with fabrication, assembly, and engineering teams to keep projects moving.

The ideal candidate has a strong fabrication and mechanical background, understands how equipment is assembled, and can translate what's happening on the shop floor into accurate Autodesk Inventor models and manufacturing documentation. You'll work directly with management to prioritize projects, coordinate with our Inventor drawing team, and ensure everyone has the information they need to keep production on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical assembly and development of prototype tractors from concept through production.
  • Work hands-on with fabrication and assembly teams to ensure components fit, function, and are assembled correctly.
  • Create and update 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Communicate design changes and field modifications to the CAD/Inventor drawing team to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate with engine manufacturers and suppliers to ensure the correct engines and components are matched to each build.
  • Plan ahead by coordinating parts, materials, and purchased components so they arrive when needed and production isn't delayed.
  • Work closely with purchasing, inventory, engineering, and manufacturing teams to keep projects moving efficiently.
  • Identify design improvements and manufacturing efficiencies during prototype builds.
  • Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly documentation, and engineering records.
  • Help establish and improve assembly processes as new tractor models are developed.
  • Serve as the on-the-ground technical lead, driving projects forward and ensuring management's priorities are executed on time.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is equally comfortable with a wrench and a computer. You should have strong mechanical aptitude, fabrication knowledge, and experience with Autodesk Inventor, but more importantly, you enjoy being in the shop, solving problems, and helping a team succeed.

The right candidate is a self-starter who plans ahead, communicates well, and takes ownership of projects from start to finish. You'll be the person connecting engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and management to ensure our prototype tractors are completed on schedule, assembled correctly, and fully documented for production.

If you enjoy building equipment, leading projects, and turning ideas into finished machines, we'd like to talk with you.
