Job description

WE'RE HIRING!

Manufacturing CAD Engineer

Location: California (Remote/Hybrid)

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing CAD Engineer to join an innovative team focused on advanced off-site construction and manufacturing. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in CAD modeling, virtual fabrication, and design-for-manufacturing who enjoys improving processes and collaborating across engineering and production teams.

This is a hybrid opportunity for candidates based in California. The role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to a manufacturing facility in Tejon Ranch, CA for team collaboration and project support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert Revit models and construction drawings into manufacturing-ready CAD and CAM files.
  • Produce detailed shop drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), cut lists, and fabrication documentation.
  • Support material planning, production workflows, and project costing through accurate modeling and documentation.
  • Develop and improve virtual build processes from design through manufacturing.
  • Create and maintain CAD standards, procedures, and quality control processes.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews to ensure design accuracy before production.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and project teams to resolve design challenges.
  • Participate in research and development initiatives focused on improving manufacturing efficiency.
  • Prepare technical presentations and documentation as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Assist with additional engineering projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in building design or structural modeling.
  • At least 3 years of experience using 3D CAD software, preferably Cadwork.
  • Experience creating shop drawings, coordination drawings, installation documents, and fabrication packages.
  • Understanding of manufacturing environments and production workflows.
  • Experience with modular, prefabricated, or panelized construction is highly preferred.
  • Ability to interpret structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (SMEPF) construction documents.
  • Knowledge of light-frame construction methods; experience with heavy timber or mass timber is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

What's In It for You

  • Starting salary of $120,000+, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid work schedule with the flexibility to work remotely.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities and long-term incentive potential.
  • Opportunity to contribute to innovative construction and manufacturing projects.
  • Collaborative team environment with opportunities for professional growth and career development.
  • Work on projects that help improve efficiency, sustainability, and the future of modern construction.
