Orchestra AideJOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 07/23/2026 CLOSING DATE: 08/13/2026 04:00 PM POSTING NUMBER: 054704 LOCATION: Mitchell Intermediate - 067 POSITION TITLE: Orchestra Aide
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assist the orchestra/fine art teacher.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist with the preparation of students for string activities which include the following: seasonal concerts, district solo/ensemble contest, and District "String Fling".
  2. Assist the teacher with instruction for the development of string technique and music reading.
  3. Maintain and submits upon request accurate computer generated records on enrollment, attendance, instrumentation and inventory.
  4. Demonstrates correct techniques for assembly, care and maintenance of student instruments.
  5. Communicates with parents regularly to encourage and promote student progress, regular practice, attendance and any needed information regarding the playing condition of the student's string instrument.
  6. Assists with rehearsals and performances demonstrating understanding of differences in style among various types of music.
  7. Assists in completing requisitions for required music, instruments, equipment, and supplies within budgetary constraints.
  8. Participates cooperatively on school and district-wide activities.
  9. Works with the string specialist and other string teachers to develop, refine, implement, and evaluate the curriculum so that orchestra activities are related to, and support, the over all direction of the CISD.
  10. Pursues and participates in professional development activities; disseminates ideas and information to other professionals.
  11. Attends to daily activities on a consistent and timely basis.
  12. Maintains confidentiality.
  13. Regular attendance.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience working with children in a public school setting
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate (Must obtain within 30 days of employment)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Playing, teaching and keyboard skills
  • Working knowledge of symphonic literature
  • Working knowledge of full orchestra instrumentation
