Position Summary

The Systems Administrator supports the Sustainment Operations and Infrastructure Management functional lines for the Hill CEDC IT Operations & Maintenance contract at Hill AFB by administering enterprise hosting, virtualization, storage, networking, and monitoring platforms. This role maintains Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware vSphere, Nutanix HCI, NetApp storage, Cisco UCS, Cisco networking, F5 load balancers, and SolarWinds monitoring infrastructure. The Systems Administrator maintains STIG compliance, executes approved change requests, manages configuration baselines, supports onboarding and modernization activities, and ensures operational readiness across 2,000+ servers, 250+ applications, and multiple enclaves. One Systems Administrator (NCSA) serves as the Configuration Manager responsible for CMDB accuracy and CrossTalk ERB/CAB coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Administer enterprise hosting platforms including Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware vSphere, Nutanix HCI, NetApp storage, Cisco UCS, Cisco networking, F5 load balancers, and SolarWinds monitoring systems.
  • Maintain STIG compliance, apply security patches, and support vulnerability remediation across assigned systems.
  • Execute approved change requests in alignment with Configuration Management and Change Management processes.
  • Maintain configuration baselines and ensure CMDB accuracy; one NCSA serves as the Configuration Manager responsible for CMDB governance and CrossTalk ERB/CAB coordination.
  • Support hosting sustainment activities including system provisioning, performance tuning, capacity management, and incident resolution.
  • Support onboarding and modernization initiatives by implementing new technologies, migrating workloads, and updating system architectures.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and Infrastructure‑as‑Code artifacts using Ansible and Terraform.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and availability using SolarWinds and other enterprise monitoring tools; support showback reporting requirements.
  • Maintain system documentation, SOPs, diagrams, and operational records to ensure audit readiness and traceability.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity personnel to ensure compliance with RMF, STIG, and DoD security requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical SMEs, functional leads, and Government stakeholders to support mission‑critical operations.
  • Ensure all system administration activities meet accuracy, completeness, and auditability standards.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration or enterprise infrastructure operations.
  • Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and enterprise networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with VMware vSphere, Nutanix HCI, NetApp ONTAP, Cisco UCS, Cisco networking, F5 load balancers, and SolarWinds.
  • Experience supporting Configuration and Change Management processes.
  • Understanding of STIGs, RMF requirements, and DoD cybersecurity compliance.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or PowerShell.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Must possess a Secret clearance.
  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background investigation.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ITIL Foundation or ITIL Managing Professional certification.
  • VMware, Nutanix, Cisco, NetApp, or Microsoft technical certifications.
  • Experience supporting DoD data center operations or enterprise IT environments.
  • Experience with CMDB/CRMDb data governance or enterprise monitoring/showback programs.

Working Conditions / Environment / Physical Demands

  • Position is performed on site at Hill AFB, Utah, in a secure professional environment.
  • Standard Monday–Friday schedule with occasional evening or weekend work to meet operational needs.
  • Core duty hours: Monday–Friday, 0600–1800 MST.
  • Work involves extensive computer and secure network use, including prolonged periods of sitting and screen time.
  • Requires independent work with minimal supervision, as well as collaboration with cross‑functional teams, subcontractors, and Government stakeholders.
  • Occasional travel may be required for customer meetings, training, or program reviews.
