Job description

Job Summary:
Systems Administrators are knowledgeable in all the most common and popular networking technologies. In addition to strong technical aptitudes, this person is typically intermediate level. This person will demonstrate that they have the necessary soft skills to be a point of contact with clients. This person is a good communicator and a person who can manage well when the client presents an issue and needs guidance. This person should be prompt and/or understand the importance of communicating with clients. This person should be skillful at pre-project/work-briefings with each client on each project. This person should then be able to execute with a high degree of success in integrating and/or solving problems in environments rich in Windows Server, Exchange, IIS, VPN's, firewalls, backup systems and more.
Essential Duties:
  • Meet daily time entry standards
  • Ability to provide generally accurate time estimates for how long a task will take
  • Complete required documentation (time entries, tickets, walkthroughs, etc.)
  • Assist in small projects
  • Assist Sr. Administrators on larger projects
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies through the use of self-study materials and intuition and begins to effectively research problems on their own
  • Start refining the necessary soft skills to be a point of contact with clients
  • Understands that the success of individuals is measured by the success of their teams
  • Takes direction from Administrators/Senior Administrators/Managers
  • Takes ownership of tasks and follows through to ensure complete resolution
  • Takes a personal interest in, and responsibility for, quality of work they perform or are associated with

Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Managed Services Team Lead, Service Manager, President, or any other appropriate administrator
Job Specifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
Understands how to troubleshoot basic network issues. Can find and utilize the Event Log to look for issues. Can troubleshoot hardware issues with workstations. Can create and share documents from a server location and apply basic permissions. Has the knowledge to access network resources (Printers, shares, network storage). Use VSS and Datto to restore files and folders. Attained a workstation level certification. Understands how a server processes DNS and DHCP requests. Uses basic PowerShell items. Deploy Allworx phone to remote users.
It is preferred that this person will have at least 2 years of quality (MSP) experience to the position and is assumed to master the role after 3-7 years in the position.
It is expected that this person will exhibit the necessary soft skills to be able to be a point of contact with clients as well as possess the ability to effectively research problems on their own.
Enjoys helping people to the extent that no problem is considered mundane, no matter how simple the solution (i.e. -- Susie can't print).
