IT Platform & Sys Admin

Location: Omaha, NE (On-Site/Hybrid) Position Type: Full-Time / Permanent

The Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive IT Platform & Cloud Engineer to oversee the stability, maintenance, and evolution of a large-scale Windows-based server and middleware environment. This role is designed for a technical professional who enjoys a mix of day-to-day operational excellence and the strategic planning of new infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Administration: Act as the primary Systems Engineer for Windows-based servers and enterprise middleware applications.

  • Deployment & Management: Install, configure, and administer operating systems and middleware software to ensure high availability and performance for the user environment.

  • Problem Resolution: Analyze system inefficiencies or recurring issues within middleware systems; determine root causes and implement permanent fixes.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide clear technical instructions, documentation, and training to support staff, serving as a mentor for junior team members.

  • Critical Support: Troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues. This includes standard business hours and occasional after-hours support as required by system urgency.

  • Project Planning: Initiate infrastructure improvements and prepare comprehensive project plans for system upgrades.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience in systems engineering or server administration.

  • Technical Core: Proven expertise in Windows Server OS Administration and the installation/management of enterprise-level software.

  • Productivity Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business productivity suites.

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • Cloud Architecture: Experience managing Microsoft Azure environments and M365 administration.

  • Virtualization & Database: Familiarity with VMWare, Citrix, and SQL Server Administration.

  • Messaging: Experience with MS Exchange environments.

  • Automation: Knowledge of Scripting Technologies (e.g., PowerShell) for task automation.

  • Best Practices: Understanding of ITIL or similar service management methodologies.

  • Credentials: Active Microsoft Certifications (AZ-104, MCSE, etc.).
