Job description

As a Seeding Room Admin, you are a key bridge between the Soft Good Procurement & Inventory teams and Greenhouse Operations/Seeding Lines. With a primary focus of processing seed inventories, the position requires a close attention to detail and the ability to document information accurately within the Picas system.
An ideal Seed Room Admin has great attention to details, has strong communication skills, and acts as a liaison between both greenhouse and administrative teams. This position is required to work within the Seed Cooler (50-65°F) and requires intermediate computer skills to complete order processing, data-entry, and inventory function. As such, 2-3 years' applicable professional experience and has a professional level of both English and Spanish language skills (bilingual highly preferred).
Essential Functions/Duties:
  • Prepare seed based on orders and requirements for each line to ensure seed inventory is ready and available for teams in time to effectively sow/plant product on a weekly basis
  • Process varying volumes of seed inventory to meet peak season requirements. (Enter all order information accurately into Picas)
  • Pull seed from seed inventory, record information, label bins, and reorganize seed inventory as instructed by the Site Manager
  • Verify weights of seed and document inventory levels based on seed variety
  • Assist with reporting data related to receiving, and inventory management.
  • Complete Inventory verifications/physical counts.
  • Update inventory numbers and data using Picas software. Skills with Picas, Inventory software, or MS Excel may be required to complete work.
  • Collaborate with the Seeding Supervisor (responsible for seeding lines) to address and troubleshoot problems with return of seed inventory.
  • Track and keep accurate inventories of incoming and outgoing seed inventory, and address discrepancies with Soft Goods Procurement Manager & Specialists

The Seed Room Admin may be assigned to assist with seeding line operations, maintaining a clean workspace, or other administrative, inventory, or greenhouse responsibilities/various projects. At times, it would be expected to assist with other departments and greenhouse labor as instructed by the Site Manager.
Requirements
Basic Minimum Requirements/Competencies
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the United States
  • Must have at least 2-3 years' experience in one of the following areas: Greenhouse Administration; Data-Entry or Order Processing (especially in Picas); Inventory/Logistics; Shipping/Receiving; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have intermediate computer skills with experience using MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Power BI, Outlook, etc.). Experience using Picas or production software and programs preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to communicate and respond efficiently in a timely manner to written and oral correspondence (including emails) in English using situational based and business appropriate language. Conversational fluency in Spanish highly preferred but not required.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating to clients, managers, vendors, co-workers, and employees in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Must meet the physical requirements of the General Greenhouse Worker position, including being able to regularly or repetitively lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and push or pull racks on wheels of up to 50-100lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. To prevent injury, employees must abide by the safety procedures set by Tagawa Greenhouse Ent., LLC. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
