About the Job
 

Responsibilities:
30% Conduct biological and molecular research activities following established laboratory protocols and procedures.
20% Process, analyze, and interpret biological, genomic, and experimental data using appropriate computational and statistical tools.
20% Perform laboratory assays and molecular biology techniques, including PCR, molecular cloning, nucleic acid detection, ELISA, and Western blot, as appropriate to assigned research projects.
15% Assist with microbiome analyses and other genomic or molecular data analyses.
10% Assist with animal research activities, including immunization, virus challenge (BSL-1), blood sampling, and sample collection, as applicable.
5% Maintain accurate research records, prepare reports and presentations, and communicate research findings to laboratory team members.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least four years.
  • Experience working in a biological, scientific, or research environment.
  • Experience collecting, processing, analyzing, or interpreting biological or scientific data.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established research protocols and procedures and accurately document results.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with molecular biology techniques, including PCR, gene expression analysis, molecular cloning, and nucleic acid detection.
  • Experience with immune assays, including ELISA and Western blot.
  • Experience with microbiome analyses and/or genomic data.
  • Experience with laboratory research involving viruses, including Herpesviruses.
  • Experience with animal experimentation, including immunization, virus challenge (BSL-1), and blood sampling.
  • Experience using computational tools or programming languages for biological data analysis, including R, Python, or MATLAB.
Pay and Benefits
 

Pay Range: $22.25 - $23.00/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience
