Job Description:
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production during the assigned shift. This role ensures that all production goals are met while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards. The supervisor will manage the shift team, address operational issues, and coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient workflow.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise Daily Operations: Oversee molding processes to ensure efficient production and timely completion of schedules.
  2. Team Leadership: Manage and guide the shift production team, ensuring proper staffing, training, and performance management.
  3. Quality Control: Monitor product quality by conducting inspections and audits to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  4. Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve cycle times.
  5. Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies. Address any safety concerns or violations promptly.
  6. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve any issues with equipment, tooling, or processes that may arise during the shift.
  7. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production, downtime, quality checks, and shift reports.
  8. Communication: Coordinate with other supervisors, departments, and management to ensure seamless production flow and address any inter-departmental concerns.
  9. Training and Development: Provide training to operators and other team members on safe and efficient operating procedures for compression molding machines.
  10. Inventory and Materials Management: Monitor raw materials and finished products inventory levels, ensuring adequate supply for production.
  11. Maintenance Coordination: Work closely with the maintenance team to schedule preventative maintenance and address equipment issues.
  12. Shift Handover: Ensure a smooth transition between shifts by communicating any relevant updates or ongoing issues.

Educational and Other Skills Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in compression molding or a similar manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of compression molding processes, equipment, and tools. Ability to read blueprints and understand production specifications.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, manage conflict, and drive results.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot production and equipment issues efficiently.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in using manufacturing software, MS Office (Excel, Word), and ERP systems.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials, and work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, and temperature fluctuations.
