The Compounding Technician is responsible in ensuring Chemicals are weighed, warehoused and picked in proper quantities, all containers are identified and stored in a safe manner and documenting all activities on batch sets or in systems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Prepare and compound batches, including dispensing and mixing raw materials and formulations, in accordance with SOPs and master formulas.
  • Ensure the integrity of chemicals and materials, verifying lot status, expiry, and packaging condition.
  • Accurately document all manufacturing, compounding activities, test results, batch data, and observations in batch records and systems, ensuring compliance with GMP.
  • Report discrepancies, deviations, spills, damages, mistakes, or unsafe conditions immediately to supervisors or lead hands.
  • Follow all GMP, SOPs, health, safety, and environmental policies, demonstrating strong knowledge of compounding and manufacturing best practices.
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain compounding areas, vessels, and equipment.
  • Support environmental checks, including monitoring water and air quality as required.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain compounding and laboratory equipment.
  • Perform minor authorized adjustments or repairs safely; escalate major issues to maintenance, QA, or QC.
  • Assist in the setup of small-scale equipment or tools for trial batches and experiments.
  • Collect and test samples to ensure products meet company and regulatory quality standards.
  • Assist in training new compounders and support staff on GMP practices, equipment operation, and standard procedures.
  • Assist validation and R&D teams with trials, new formulations, and scale-ups.
  • Participate in non-conformance investigations, corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), and change control activities as assigned.
  • Use RF scanners to maintain accurate inventory and material control. In addition to create, print and verify labels according to approved SOPs.
  • Prepare manufacturing areas for internal, customer, and third-party audits.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support manufacturing, lab, and business operations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to train others and support cross-functional teams.
 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • University degree with 1-2 years of technical training experience or post-secondary education in a scientific discipline preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a GMP Environment. (Required)
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with personnel on a daily basis.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and perform physically demanding tasks. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
  •  Valid Lift Truck license is an asset
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment
  • Strong active listening skills with the ability to receive coaching and applicable training
  • Proficient in math and computer skills
  • Comfortable using facility software programs
