Pharmacy Technician - Oncology - RWJBarnabas Health
At RWJBarnabas Health, the Pharmacy Technician - Oncology plays a critical role in patient care and operational excellence. Operating with a high level of independence, they perform complex technical, clerical, and compounding procedures according to strict medical, legal, and professional pharmaceutical standards. They are responsible for exercising professional judgment during medication preparation, ensuring accurate sterile compounding, delivering age-specific care support, and maintaining seamless workflow collaboration within the infusion center pharmacy department.
A typical day for a Pharmacy Technician - Oncology may include:
  • Prepares sterile intravenous admixtures, clearly explains the process, and positions hazardous and non-hazardous products for safe patient delivery

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is required within 6 months of employment
  • Strong baseline knowledge of sterile product preparation, including antineoplastic and hazardous compounding workflows
  • Prior experience working in a hospital pharmacy setting or a sterile cleanroom environment is preferred
  • Available for a full-time, Monday through Friday daytime schedule rotation
  • Flexibility to rotate coverage between Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and Melchiorre Cancer Center as needed
