Hidden Valley Transfer Station, a Waste Connections company, is currently hiring a reliable and motivated Laborer to support our composting operations in Puyallup, Washington.
This is a full-time, year-round position ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, take pride in hands-on work, and want to contribute to environmentally responsible operations.
About Our Compost Operations
We are proud producers of P.R.E.P. (Pierce County Recycled Earth Products), a high-quality compost created by responsibly processing organic waste into valuable, reusable products. Our Compost Factory provides extensive capacity to convert organic materials at a competitive cost, while advanced environmental and operational controls ensure the facility remains a responsible and respectful neighbor to the community that generates these materials and relies on the finished product.
Schedule & Pay
  • Sunday through Wednesday, 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM. Opportunities for overtime available
  • Pay Range is $21.00 - $23.00 per hour, depending on experience

What You'll Do
As a Laborer in the compost area, you will play a key role in supporting daily composting operations and maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-organized site.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Perform general labor duties within the compost operation, including site cleanup and material handling
  • Assist customers with unloading compostable materials and provide clear direction as needed
  • Safely flag and direct vehicle traffic entering and exiting the compost area
  • Support equipment operators and operate minor equipment as assigned
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the composting area
  • Occasionally drive company vehicles within the facility (valid driver's license required)

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a physically demanding, outdoor role
  • Comfortable working in environments with strong odors, dust, and changing weather conditions
  • Ability to stand and work outdoors for up to 10 hours per shift
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
  • Willingness to work at multiple locations if needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

This is a safety-sensitive position and requires passing a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
