Join our team and become part of a mission-driven organization focused on excellence in livestock care, food production, and leadership development.JOB DESCRIPTIONAs a Nursery Lead, you?ll oversee daily operations for a large-scale nursery farm caring for a high volume of pigs while leading a team in a fast-paced swine production environment. This role combines hands-on animal care, team leadership, safety, training, and operational management to support animal wellbeing and strong nursery performance. Responsibilities include coordinating daily and weekly farm tasks with the Service Manager and department leaders, reviewing performance, ordering monthly supplies, ensuring proper feeding processes, maintaining equipment, supporting staffing and team development, training Nursery Technicians, implementing technical protocols, testing new processes, maintaining biosecurity standards, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental procedures.

May need to approve time and attendance for farm staffConducts a weekly review of departmental performanceExecute monthly supply orderingEnsures proper feeding processes are followed so animals maximize nursery performanceImplements technical protocols and helps to develop and test new processesEnsures the farm's working environment is safe by providing safety equipment, training, and actions to prevent hazardous conditionsEnsures all equipment, machinery, and vehicles are accounted for and properly maintainedWorks in conjunction with the Service Manager and Human Resources on personnel issues including, but not limited to, hiring, termination, worker safety, performance evaluation, and staffing levelsIs responsible for training all Nursery Technicians and ensures proper animal husbandry skills are being utilizedMust learn and perform the responsibilities described within CVFF?s process manual.Is responsible for complying with all environmental laws and procedures to which the company is required to follow or voluntarily subscribesMaintains bio-security protocols in the departmentQUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred an a minimum of one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceRequires one who is multi-task oriented and a team playerAbility to read, write and speak simple sentences in EnglishAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsMust understand that the Company is a producer of high quality pork.Must be able to lift up to 50 poundsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Meet all bio-security requirements as outlined by Animal Care policy/ procedure.Consistent and reliable adherence to Animal Welfare requirements and Code of Conduct.Adhere to CVFF/ CLEMENS FOOD GROUP Mission, Vision, and Values.Complete all other tasks as assigned.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS; PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Stationary Position: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for more than 85% of the time.Moving/ Traversing: The person in this position needs to frequently move around the Production areas of the Barns/ Farm and will be moving/ traversing more than 85% of the time to attend to the care needs of the animals.Operating/ Activating/ Using/ Preparing/ Inspecting/ Placing/ Positioning: Frequently utilizes animal movement techniques, breeding or farrowing equipment, etc.Ascend/ Descend/ Traverse: Occasionally ascends/ descends a ladder to work atop equipment and/ or provide routine maintenance of Electronic Sow Feeders (ESF?s) or compost structures.Position Self to Move: Frequently positions self to complete tasks by reaching under/ around animals, into/ out of animal crates/ pens, remove material from the floor/ walls, and assist animals in the farrowing process.Communicate/ Detect/ Identify/ Exchange Information: Constant visual monitoring of sow/ animal health and well-being, frequent communication with Team Members regarding animal movements, health status, task completion, etc. Shares information regarding task completion with Farm management.Move/ Transport/ Install/ Remove: Frequently moves equipment/ animals weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally moves equipment/ animals weighing up to 75 pounds, rarely moves equipment/ animals weighing up to 100 pounds.
Frequently transports equipment/ materials/ animals through various areas of the Barn weighing 50 pounds or more.
