Job description

Description

We here at Independent Recycling Services are seeking a professional to support our sales and sustainability teams.  

This position would also be involved in and lead Independent's marketing/social media efforts.

REPORTING DUTIES

1. Monthly Environmental Report Creation/Distribution

Enter data from recycling drivers' routes into our Trux database and maintain environmental routes.

Set up new accounts for environmental statements.

Create and distribute Environmental Reports to 100+ customers monthly.

Send yearly Environmental Reports to customers along with future recycling tips

2.    Support Waste Audits and Reporting

Assist in coordinating audit procedures and dates with the customer, dispatch, and the recycling plant.

Assist in performing LEED-certified waste audits on customer containers.

Assist in creating a comprehensive report for customers tracking the contents found in containers. 

 3.    LEED Construction Reports Creation/Distribution

Generate, save, and send LEED reports to customers.

Respond to customer inquiries regarding said reports.  


 BILLING/INVOICING/CREDIT DUTIES

Assist in preparing and entering billing for universal waste pickups.

Assist in preparing and entering billing for monthly compost pickups.

Assist in preparing and entering billing for paper shredding.

Assist in preparing and entering billing for miscellaneous items (trash FOBS, container sales, compost bags, decal orders, etc.).


EDUCATION DUTIES

Participate in:

Lunch-and-learns when needed (in person or virtual)

Cleaning staff trainings

Tabling events/vendor fairs

Walk-through waste audits and audit summaries

Recycling program launch trainings (new and existing customers)

Attend meetings with clients when needed.

Manage the scheduling for Earth Day and America Recycles Day event calendars.


 MARKETING DUTIES

Work closely with the IRS team to create/develop marketing materials for Sales/Sustainability.

Develop content and organize information/materials for various company-sponsored events.

Develop social media ideas/content for our social media platforms. 

Create/distribute signage (flyers, brochures, posters).

Maintain and distribute program startup guides for sustainability sub-k services.

Maintain and distribute bid packages, pricing documents, and sales support materials.


SUBCONTRACT COORDINATION 

Assist in coordinating subcontracted sustainability-related services when needed. 


RFP's/ SUPPORT

1. Bids

Assist in the entire RFP process.

 2.   Collections

Assist in generating reports and handling calls as requested

 3.   Support

Join tabling/networking events on an as-needed basis.

Assist in resolving customer issues as they arise.

Assist in updating customer information, contracts, and databases on an as-requested basis.


MISCELLANEOUS

Activate compactor fobs, assemble data monthly 

Customer service duties (answer phones, resolve issues, etc)

Keep track of/order applicable inventory 

Complete purchase requisition documents 

Generate and send service announcement email blasts

Enter monthly recycling rebates and rates

Assist in recycling plant tour set up 

Assist in managing office compost and recycling programs

Other projects and tasks as assigned/needed


RECYCLING CONTAMINATION 

Educate customers on recycling contamination through photos/grading information.

Develop tools and suggestions to help customers avoid continued recycling contamination. 



Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent qualification is required for this position. 
  • Candidates with a degree in sustainability or relevant experience in the field will be given preference. 
  • The role may require occasional travel to attend various functions and events, so flexibility is important. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential for managing documentation and data efficiently.
