Job Description

This role focuses on building high-quality aerospace components using composite materials such as honeycomb, felt metal, adhesives, and rivets. You will follow detailed blueprints and written instructions to assemble, inspect, and test parts so they meet strict design and quality standards. The position requires hands-on work with tools and chemicals, careful documentation of tasks, and a strong commitment to safety and precision.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble composite aerospace components using tools and equipment such as grinders, sanders, and rivet machines.
  • Follow blueprints, work instructions, and special procedures to ensure all parts meet design specifications and engineering requirements.
  • Measure parts accurately using appropriate measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Inspect parts for cleanliness, defects, and overall quality, and ensure they meet established standards before moving to the next process.
  • Record work progress, including tasks completed and time spent, in production or tracking systems as required.
  • Rework and repair non-conforming parts by following approved procedures to bring them into compliance with specifications.
  • Handle and apply chemicals, adhesives, epoxies, and lubricants safely and correctly during the assembly process.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper storage and handling of tools and materials.
  • Track, manage, and replenish inventory of supplies, materials, and consumables used in composite assembly.
  • Collaborate with team members and follow guidance from leads or supervisors to meet production goals and quality expectations.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience in composite assembly or composite technician work.
  • Proficiency working with composite materials such as honeycomb, felt metal, and related aerospace materials.
  • Ability to perform assembly tasks using hand tools, grinders, sanders, rivet machines, and other shop equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and safety or procedure manuals.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $33.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
