Job description

Role overview

Lead rapid, component-level rework and repair of circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and related subassemblies to rigorous aerospace and defense standards. Apply deep expertise with IPC and J-STD criteria to deliver reliable, high-quality outcomes while maintaining precise records and SPC data. Operate under general supervision and contribute to continuous improvement across products and processes.

Core responsibilities
  • Rapid rework and modification of CCAs per IPC and J-STD requirements.
  • Execution of approved rework, repairs, and engineering changes on electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
  • Use of detailed work instructions and released planning, supported by technical drawings, 2D/3D models, schematics, circuit/wiring diagrams, equipment/process specs, photos, illustrations, and sketches.
  • Completion of fabrication, installation, adjustment, fit checks, fastener alignment, connections, and subassembly tasks to support rework.
  • Operation of shop tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Documentation of outcomes per procedure, including entry of SPC data and maintenance of rework charts, logs, records, and reports.
  • Identification and documentation of CCA non-conformances to the component level.
  • Assistance with definition, implementation, completion, and monitoring of work scope.
  • Recommendations for product and process enhancements based on studies and evaluations.
  • Safe work practices in a clean, organized environment; hazardous waste handling as qualified.
  • Maintenance of all required licenses, permits, and certifications.
Required experience and skills
  • Shift flexibility: able to work any shift.
  • 5–7 years of rework experience using standard hand and air (pneumatic) tools.
  • At least 3 years working to DoD and NASA assembly soldering specifications.
  • 5 years applying J-STD-001.
  • 5 years of component-level soldering and electronics repair.
  • Fluent in reading/interpreting technical drawings and schematics; consistently follows blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams for correct placement and connections.
  • Computer literacy, including: navigating the desktop, taskbar, windows, and settings; using mouse/keyboard and essential shortcuts; creating/renaming/deleting/organizing files and folders; connecting to printers; adjusting system preferences (volume, display).
  • High attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and solid communication skills for issue reporting and instruction adherence.
  • Hands-on assembly of board-level components (transistors, capacitors, ICs, relays, resistors, and related devices).
  • Proficient soldering/desoldering via hand tools and automated equipment; conducts quality checks including AOI.
  • Capable of diagnosing/repairing faulty components or circuits; maintains tools/equipment; thoroughly documents assembly processes and issues.
Work environment
