Responsibilities
The Sales Underwriter builds and maintains relationships within an assigned territory, drives written premium growth, and maintains renewal retention goals while delivering a high degree of customer satisfaction. This role applies underwriting, sales, and distribution management skills to manage an overall book of business and achieve profitability goals.
• Apply intermediate-level underwriting analysis, coverage, and pricing skills to evaluate inland marine and related property risks.
• Assess intricate risks across various industries using historical data and industry trends to make informed underwriting decisions.
• Develop comprehensive risk management plans for accounts and territories.
• Interpret complex financial data and evaluate financial stability to guide risk assessments and pricing strategies.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of loss prevention tactics and collaborate with risk engineering professionals to develop loss prevention programs and risk mitigation solutions.
• Develop complex policies that balance comprehensive coverage with accurate pricing through effective utilization of endorsements and specialized coverage options.
• Align coverages offered with appropriately developed coverage terms, limits, and pricing based on a strong understanding of all coverage components.
• Apply intermediate-level underwriting process and compliance skills to ensure adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate tasks by engaging appropriate internal and external stakeholders at the right time to deliver optimal outcomes.
• Operate with a continuous improvement mindset and offer suggestions for process efficiencies.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance laws and regulations to ensure policies meet legal requirements and provide guidance on complex compliance issues.
